Evolutionary Ecology of Northern Aquatic Resources
Our group's research focuses on the ecology and evolution of northern fishes, with an emphasis on anadromous salmonids. We are interested in how migratory behaviour shapes patterns of dispersal and gene flow, and how the movements of individuals and genes influence the capacity of populations to locally adapt to their environments. We use an integrative approach, linking population genomic data with direct observations of movement in the field using acoustic telemetry or mark-recapture methods. Much of our work addresses management challenges in the rapidly changing Arctic.
